PayPal Needing More Information?

Yesterday I logged into my Paypal account and instead of taking me to the page it regularly takes me to I see this message.
Why do I need to provide additional information about my account?
We require additional information about your account for the following reason(s):
(Your case ID for this reason is PP-001-190-582-465.)
I have written to paypal and received no response as of today, I can still send and receive money and do my USPS shipping for my ebay sales but cannot find any information on what information is being requested and have received no emails from paypal. You would think if they needed more information they would have sent me an email instead of just a notice when I log in.
I cannot find anything in the reolutions center, I have never had a claim filed against me so right now I am clueless on what to do.
Any help would be appreciated as I want to make sure this is taken care of so that there are no problems.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Can you please reply with the fax instructions (fax number and subject etc)? Thanks.

Greatstockpix, I would recommend contacting us via phone to get that information. I'm not 100% certain the IRS issue is the problem, so I wouldn't want to give you the wrong info :).
This goes for anyone else as well. Please contact us if you have any questions about your account and this situation because we don't want any of your private information getting loose here inadvertently.

Hello Andy,
I just got off the phone with a representative who confirmed your information.
In my experiance with this process, a screen came up that allowed me to upload information or send additional information via Fax.
Of course I didnt have JPEG's of that information so it took about an hour to produce that info, when i cam back the upload screen was gone. Also, like many others are experiancing, there is no 'case' in the resolution center although the issue has a case ID that was presented to me upon login.
Here is the aspect that makes me very uneasy about this process; The notice told me that I had 10 days to supply the information, yet there is no link back to supply more information and there is no way of even knowing if the issue has been resolved because there is no 'case' visible in the resolution center.
Understandably, this is a new process; but there should definitely be a link of some sort to go to in order to send these files/information to resolve this issue.
I was told it was more of a "warning" than anything, but still i would like to get this resolved asap because we have a few projects in the works and any notice that I receive of this kind worries me a great deal.
Any additional information that you can provide to assist us in getting this squared away would be helpful.
Thank you.

AppChoo- I'm actually kinda surprised you had the ability to upload at all. Not sure where it would have vanished to though. I'm sure that we will have the ability to upload (since we don't want a thousands of virtual faxes flooding our lines forever), we just don't have it at the moment.
Please give us a little more time to get that functionality working right. Don't want to you go to all that work for it to not work right 😉

I'm having a similar problem.
I verified my social security number on the 27th of January from PayPal's web site. I received a confirmation e-mail shortly thereafter.
Since then I've received two additional e-mails "We noticed an issue with your account" with instructions and a Case ID number.
Clicking either the confirmation link after I've logged in, or clicking the Confirm button from the Resolution center redirects me to https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_tax-id-validation&cid=PP-001-199-xxx-xxx (I have X'd out the last six digits intentionally) - this page is not found and "You have requested an outdated version of PayPal. This error often results from the use of bookmarks." is displayed.
The resolution center now informs me that I have only three days left before my account is limited, yet it won't allow me to proceed with confirmation!
I am not being instructed to contact PayPal at all via phone or fax, nor being provided any contact information.
I've been using PayPal exclusively now for about ten years, now I presume I'll have to find another provider if my account is limited? Help, please!

I contacted a representative by phone, e-mail, and finally fax.
I decided to be thorough because I didn't want to have 3 days left then be scrambling around. However if you are in that situation i suggest that you call them immediately.
You can find the number under your "Merchant Accounts" tab.
I faxed them the case number, my drivers license, a proof of address, and my IRS business creation letter.
All of those steps that I took seemed to do the trick.
Its a bit of overkill but when you are running a business and PayPal asks you for information it is urgent that you follow through with haste.

Just an update...
I contacted PayPal via phone today. Apparently, a "TIN Affidavit" was never sent to me so they had to e-mail me this form.
The form requests a signature and proof of TIN or EIN. It can be mailed or faxed. As a sole proprietor, I use my SS# for tax ID purposes. As such, I sent a copy of my driver's license and SS card in hopes this will suffice - if not, there isn't much else I can provide other than a DBA form.
Apparently it can take up to one week to process this; however in two days my account will be "restricted" - the representative I spoke with informed me that this is just a warning and my account will continue to function as-is when it becomes restricted. I certainly hope so.
The e-mail I received on the 27th after providing my SS# ("We've confirmed your tax ID number") is obviously nonsense - no "confirmation" was made.
PayPal's web site is still broken. The confirm links still do not work. The PayPal representive was not surprised by this and informed me that a great deal of development was done only last week.
PayPal, if you're listening, this is a serious issue on your end - in ten years I've never had to call support or post a forum message. Communication to me (both on your web site and via e-mail) regarding the TIN/EIN/SS confirmation has and remains very poor.

Another update - everything now appears to be in order. The resolution center is clear and I am no longer being asked to confirm my tax ID. I'm not sure if it was just a software glitch or if my fax was processed, but everything appears to be alright..

Chris77- Glad everything worked out ok! 😄
I know that it was kinda bumpy there for a while, but we're starting to smooth out the process. Everyone who has posted here and reads this later remember; we don't want to impede your business. We want to get through this process as quick as possible so everyone can continue to profit. But we need to make sure we're doing our due-diligence on these IRS requirements.
