Change funding source????

I thought I had deleted an old bank account I had linked to PayPal, but it's still listed on there and I made an order to it without reading the order closely enough (my primary debit card was listed as the backup, and what's what I saw). So I how do I change the funding source??? Payment won't be made since that bank account has been closed. Will the payment automatically go to that backup source listed???? I don't use PayPal a lot and this website has no answers on changing the funding source....

Hello LaMusica and Welcome to the Community Robot wink

I am sorry to hear this happened, it sounds like a mess.

Yes, PayPal will automatically try the back-up funding source. I would just explain what happened to the seller and let them know you are in the process of adding a new funding source, just to give them a heads up.

To change your funding source you will first want to add your bank account and/or credit card to your PayPal account.

Here is how:

  • Log into your PayPal account.
  • Click on the Profile link (under My Account).
  • Click My money then click add next to Bank accounts or/and Debit and credit cards.
  • and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Once your bank account or credit card has been added you will be able to check out and select the new funding source.

I hope this helps.

Misty...thanks so  much for the info! If PayPal tries the backup that will be fine. I already talked with the seller to let him know there might be a slight delay. And as soon as the payment clears I will definitely be deleting that wrong account once and for all!

LaMusica,

You are very welcome! Yes, I agree it would be a great idea to delete that old bank account. Its amazing how the little things cause such a BIG problem.
