Welcome to the boards!

If your account has been sent to an outside collection agency (someone other than PayPal), than you will need to pay the collection agency directly.  They will then forward any payments and report accordingly.

Thanks!

Welcome to the boards!

If the option to resolve a negative balance is available via a website, it means that amount has not been sent to an external collection agency.

Thanks!

Sorry Adrian but you are wrong on that point.  I had a negative balance due to a **bleep** up with my funding sources.  I resolved the negative balance on the 3rd of November.  The money came out of my account right away but after that I see that the payment will not be processed until the 14th.  Today I get a letter dated nov. 8th from a collections agency.  What's the deal?  I'm very **bleep** right now.  You know I have made a payment, it's in my account history, so why would you guys send it to collections?  Not very impressed.  I've seen some news items about using paypal vs. credit cards and how credit cards offer more protection for purchases because of underhanded things that your company is doing.  I suggest that your executives keep their greed in check and consider providing excellent customer service instead of shady tactics.

raen -

Thanks for letting me know!  A few questions so I can track this down - how long had your negative balance been maintained? What was the name of the collection agency? Did the agency instruct you to pay them directly or to pay PayPal directly via adding funds into your account?

It's possible this could have been an internal collections agency - if the PayPal account isn't locked, then our internal teams may send letters or contact you to resolve the balance.  If this is the case, it's likely that the automated process overlapped your Add Funds and the two simply missed each other in the mail, so to speak.  Our apologies!

Thanks!
