Where do I insert 13 digit gift card number when paying for an Ebay item

where do i insert the 13 digit gift card when paying for an Ebay item.  Can't find a space on the payment screen

1. Log in to your eBay account.
2. Click Pay Now for the item you're buying.
3. Enter the 13-digit redemption code, then click Apply.
4. Click Continue to proceed to PayPal.
5. Log in to your PayPal account.
6. Review the payment details and click Confirm and Pay.

I've been trying this for over 10 months... with a gift card that the balance check shows the original $200 purchased by me for my husband so I know it is not a scam card.  Ebay returns same error... Something Went Wrong - Try again later.  How much later am I supposed to wait to spend money already collected by paypal???
