Keep Getting Error Messages When I Try to Connect my Bank Account

Every time I try to connect my bank account to my paypal account (either instantly or manually) I get an error message that something went wrong and to try again later. I tried troubleshooting it with advice that worked for other people (clearing my cache/cookies and changing my browser) and I double checked that all my information was the same and correct. When I went to the paypal assistant messenger bot for help it told me that my bank is not supported by paypal. That can't be right, though, because not only could I select my bank when I tried connecting it to paypal, but I also know someone who uses the same bank and they have it connected to their paypal.
At this point the only thing I haven't tried is connecting through a card instead of directly my bank. I don't currently have a card so if there is any way to just connect to my bank I would much prefer it.
