"How long does it take to receive money to your paypal?"
The basic payment is received fairly instantly, unless paying with an eCheck, funds have to clear bank first. PayPal will notify you that an eCheck is received and pending, and when the eCheck has cleared. In terms of direct deposits, it depends whether its payroll (1-2 pay periods to take effect) or gov'ment checks.
"Also do you have to have a pay pal card to get direct deposit or can you link your bank account from another bank"
Direct Deposit is only available on PayPal accounts in the US for customers who have signed up for the PayPal Cash Card debit card. If you have the PayPal Cash Card, you can find Direct Deposit information by going to your Profile.
Keep in mind, the account and routing number associated with Direct Deposit are for incoming payments only and cannot be used for outgoing purchases or payments.
Can't do direct deposit to PayPal by just linking your bank account. For example, if you gave out your bank account's account number and routing number to your sender, the funds won't go into your PayPal account, just because the bank account is linked to your PayPal account. It will go into your bank account.
