Cannot link checking account

I recently deleted my old PayPal account yo make a new one with my new email address. Now my new one will not let me add my checking account. The only reason I can think is that it is because I had it linked to the closed account. Anyone know how to fix it. I have tried calling but the automated system tells me I have to come online and cannot talk to a live agent.

Why did you delete your old account?

You can have up to 8 email addresses on the 1 account and change the primary one to another if you want to and receive funds on all of them.

However if you have closed the account without removing cards / bank accounts / cancelling subscriptions etc then you would have to contact customer services to help you.

Paypal phones are mostly non operational since covid but sometimes you get lucky. (use the guest option if you can't log in).
If there is one available it will show when you click help / contact bottom left of Paypal pages for options available in your country.
Live chat is randomly available.
You can send them a message.
