Cannot add bank account

Hello everyone, first time posting here and English is not my mother tongue so i hope you understand what i say. So, i have my PayPal account since 2016 and for 5 years till the 13th of June this year, it was under my dad's name (dad's bank, card, name etc etc). I turned 18 on March this year and i decided to remove everything that was on my dad's name and add my bank details and all that. Removed everything, added my bank account to PayPal but after adding my bank account, it said that the legal name was under my dad's name which meant i forgot to change the name to my name. So, i removed my bank, went to change the name to my full name, tried adding my bank once again and it said "Sorry, we can’t link your bank account right now." and this has been going on since the 13th of June which is 6 days so far and it has been quite annoying. I have no clue what to do about it. I have tried adding my bank on the mobile app of PayPal and still the same error message. I can give you a screenshot of the exact error message if you'd like but you get the point of what it says. What do you guys suggest? Thank you!

Also yes my country is included in the supported IBAN countries list so that's not it. I live in Greece if any of you are wondering. But before that error message appeared, i was able to add my bank without any problems but when i changed the name and trying again, that's when the error starting popping up.

Edit: I was able to add my credit card without any problems but the only problem is my bank account

An update on this topic, my issue has been fixed on it's own, i just tried my bank account and it gave me a verification error and when i went back to the previous page, it gave me a new window saying to "Complete adding this bank account" or something like that so it's currently working for me. I think this issue is fixed in just a month thankfully so if you are having this exact issue, i suggest you trying adding your bank account every like 2-3 days and trying adding your bank account only once per 2-3 days, do not spam adding your bank account multiple times a day (or every few hours), do it only once and if you see that the "Sorry, we can’t link your bank account right now." message pops up, leave it and try adding your bank account in the next day(s) so yeah, that's my best suggestion for you. The guy that replied on this topic gave 0 help in terms of the exact issue (except the name change) and he couldn't reply a simple yes or no question cuz he wanted kudos lol, atrocious. Anyways, my issue is fixed and if you are having the same issue, you need some patience at least a month or less and i hope the best for you!

You can't change the name on a paypal account from one person to another, you can only correct a 2 character typo or change it for legal reasons ie marriage.

So the name on the paypal account has to match the name on your bank account.

Thanks for the reply but hold on, i see now that if i wanna change my name again, i have to send PayPal a photo of my ID to verify that it's actually me but when i changed the name from my dad's to mine 1.5 weeks ago, it didn't require any photos of verification, how did that happen? It simply changed the name without any verifications, strange. Let me change the name once again and see if that fixes the bank account issue. Brb when it's done

Well this is BS, if i wanna change my name, i have to give PayPal all of this

  • A copy of a government-issued photo identification (ID) that shows your entire face and an ID number.
  • Recent utility bill that shows your correct name and your current address
  • Recent financial statement for the account linked to your PayPal account that shows your correct name and current address
  • Recent proof of residency document that shows your correct name and your current address
  • Drivers license that shows your correct name and your current address
  • National ID card that shows your correct name and your current address
  • Recent postal insurance bill that shows your correct name and your current address
  • Recent rates or council tax bill that shows your correct name and your current address
  • Location confirmation letter from PayPal that shows your current address

Well that's not gonna happen cuz it's waaay too much information. Couldn't they just accept the ID only?

As i said you can't change the name on a paypal account from one person to another, the account belongs to your father and always will do.

Sorry dude but i think you're wrong here. Pretty sure you can change your name but it needs all of these information so pretty sure you can change your name to a different person. I could be completely wrong with what i said but it wouldn't make sense if it works like that like you told me.

Question, if i delete the current account and open a new one with the same email and all that but everything is on my name, will that fix the bank account problem? Or are you not sure about it?

I am not wrong, read the link.

We can help you change the name on your PayPal account if it's misspelled or if you've legally changed your name. It is not possible to change the name on your account to another person's name.

OK thank you about that but you didn't answer my other question, will closing my current account and open a new one fix my issue?

I don't 'have' to answer any questions, and the fact you haven't bothered to leave kudos for any of my posts and stated my advice is incorrect doesn't lend itself to me helping you any further unfortunately.

Woah woah hold on buddy, what you just said made you look seflish and changed the whole subject. I never leave kudos to anyone and you're the first person to tell me that in my years of asking in forums. You should never ever tell anyone "the fact you haven't bothered to leave kudos for any of my posts...", why did you say that? It's the OP's preference to leave kudos. If they don't want to leave you kudos, then move on and don't say anything about it but if they do leave you kudos, thank them and simple as that no need to tell them "you didn't kudo any of my replies" etc etc. I mean what you said will not persuade me leaving you kudos either way cuz as i said, i never leave kudos to anyone, why? It's simply that i don't like giving kudos to anyone, I'm not the type of person to leave kudos, i say thank you for your help and move on. Saying something like that makes you look like you're hungry for the kudos. You would help anyone with anything they ask even if they don't leave kudos to your answers. Sorry buddy but i asked a simple yes or no question and that question could've helped thousands of others if you had answered it and you not helping me with it is like you're EA and you need "money" to answer my questions but no problem, will try it for myself either way. About the incorrect advice, i was in the wrong about that and i apologise but anyways. Thanks for the help...
