Account status checking

Hi, I created a PayPal account and linked my bank account. The account status is showing "checking". What does this mean? While in this checking status, if someone sends me money, will it be credited to my linked bank account and will I be able to withdraw the money? Pls help.

Checking means its a checking account ie issues checks rather than a savings account.
