I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET TO WORK TODAY BECAUSE PAYPAL HAS SUDDENLY BLOCKED INSTANT ACCESS TO £180 of WITHDRAWAL FUNDS, some of which was needed for fuel.

IF I HAD NOTICE OF THIS I WOULD HAVE USED SOME OTHER PAYMENT METHOD.

What a terrible way to treat your customers!!!!

I have just had the exact issue, after having over a year of 2 hours withdrawals to then go to 72 hours without so much as an email from Paypal. I hadnt noticed these were even pending until today when no funds landed in our bank account, I have contact Paypal & got the same old theres nothing we can do. Is ok saying we do advise upto 72 hours on our t&c's but how the hell does this help us businesses that have done there cashflow for the past year on 2 hours withdrawals. I think it is absolutely disgusting that they treat customers like this. I am all for security but when nothing has changed on the account then why the hell do this. David at the Paypal helpline did reverse the withdrawals for me so I can use my accesscard so not sure if anyone else wants to do the same. Very annoyed!!

Thank you very much for your post, I didn't realise they could reverse withdrawals.  Just spoke to a very helpful chap who explained it might well be because the amount has varied to our usual pattern that has flagged up the transactions as requiring review, this might indeed be related to the fact that we've had an increase in sales over the weekend and are withdrawing higher amounts at the moment (not a bad problem to have on the surface).  He reversed the transactions with no problems and advised that I should keep withdrawing at a regular level as frequently as possible but in a serial manner (one at a time, as opposed to multiple simultaneous) so the system learns my patterns and is less likely to see one-offs as unusual.  Very pleased with the customer service, I'm surprised to find myself saying, being an utter cynic.

Same here. It's not a coincidence, they're clearly losing money from the 2 hour withdrawals so are holding on to our money for longer. Which is against the law now.

Im one of the same, for ages, 2 hours to download, then, for NO good reason...72 hours, my account is verifed etc. Lame excuses from Paypal saying the batch check withdrawals and they do it every few days. Paypal truly make it up as they go along. I see no reply from any (useless) paypal advisor here.

The law was changed and now they come up with a super lame excuse to carry on the way they did it ages ago. If the fee's wern't enough..they hold and sit on what must be millions of OUR money. Whoever is the ultimate owner of paypal and ebay truly must be the greediest git on the planet.

I absolutely agree! I have been trying to get hold of my money over a week now - for the goods I sold and sent via Ebay, all long recevied but I'm stil unable to get hold of my funds.

After having to phone 3 times to Paypal this week and promises that my money will be recevied, I've had it today and called again. Finally, I have been told by the advisor that the money has now been released to my PayPal account. As I needed this money (that I was counting on for the whole week - nearly £200) to pay for an urgent  bill, I withdrew them to my bank account. Normally, the money shows in by bank account in seconds - NOT THIS TIME. Paypal says it can take up to two hours to show up, well - it has been 5 hours now and after reading these posts it doesn't seem likely that I will see my money today either.

Funnily enough, money (about £40) from another sale I have only just made, have been transferred to my bank accound immediately. Is this the way PayPal does their business? I wasn't aware this was a bank institution holding a person's money..are they using them for other financial transactions that we don't know about??

It is absolutely disgusting how Paypal is treating their customers, it does nothing to protect you either (how ironic, that secure payments and transfers are one their biggest advertising tricks) and I'm saying this from my own, non-related to this case, experience.

As soon as I get hold of my money I am closing my Paypal account, regardless of how many people are using it. And I will make sure to pass my bad experiences with Paypal to as many people as possible because something needs to be done with businesses like these!!

Paypal, the way you treat your customers is absolutely disgusting! Worst service ever.

A security measure to protect you from criminal activities. I'm the same, always get my withdrawal request within a few minutes but today a £1400 withdrawal will be 24 hours. Personally I'm happy that PayPal do this. It's protecting them and us. Yes it's annoying but I'd prefer not to lose my funds to a fraudster to that could potentially empty my PayPal account in two minutes.
