Getting **bleep** over trying to pay off a balance

I've used PayPal for many years, with no issues, until the past 2 months, which has been nothing but unacceptable reactions and support phone calls.

 

May 3, a payment was place, which then was denied on May 11 due to insufficient funds on my part. I messed this up. I can take that blame.

After getting my money situation taken care of, I called PayPal support to set up some sort of payment procedure, or do anything to help take care of my negative balance. I was told that I could do 4 payments, one a week, to get it cleared out. I immediately put one through on Wednesday, May 27.

Yesterday, June 2 I put another payment through in the same amount, so my negative balance was now half of what the original amount was. Today I log on to my bank and see that the original full amount was taken out.

I've now paid 150% of the original negative balance.

I call support to ask what the deal was, and why I was charged the full amount when I had set up payments. The response was that they can't stop automative charges to cover it, so with the 2 payments I'd made, I'd end up with a positive balance in my PayPal account, that I could then transfer to my bank. This will take at least 1 day to complete, then another 3-5 business days to get my money back. Meanwhile, I'm out all this money because the people I talked to didn't know what they were doing or how the system worked, I'm not entirely sure.

I understandably became frustrated, and asked that, since I had made 2 payments, AND the full amount was charged, that I'd just be out nearly $200 for a week, the response was "Yes, you're out that money for now."

I'll be honest, I now can't remember what I said word for word then. I try not to take out frustration on someone answering the phone, but at worst, I might've said "That's **bleep**" because that's what it was. After my response, I was told "Bye, Jeimuzu" (my real name obviously, not the username) and they hung up.

Looking through this forum, it seems PayPal customer service is pretty terrible, something I'd never experienced. Is it really this bad ? Is this seriously how they treat customers ? What is going on with this company ? Does anyone in it give a **bleep** about their people ?
