My husband lost his phone back in March and now has a new number. He called Customer (NO) Service and the person (in the Philippines, I'm a Filipina and know the accent) who was supposed to be helping him didn't seem to understand why he couldn't access his phone and why he wanted to change the phone number for 2FA. Eventually an understanding was reached and the representative began telling him that he would have to open another account and then try to access his old account or just use the new account, that made no sense and for what reason we don't know, but should he have done so that still would not have allowed him to enter his account. He did redirect all of his out going payments to his bank and but that doesn't close the PayPal account. Although the payments are going out from the bank the PayPal account is still active and now there is a hole in his banking account that has PayPal's name on it. This will allow anyone who wishes to submit a payment request via PayPal access to monies that I can no longer say "yay" or "nay" to payment. He's coming near to the time when the phone company will release his old number to a new client and then they will have the ability to authorize payments via his PayPal account. We put this here because he still can't access his PayPal account.
