Using PayPal with no cell phone

I am an elderly guy who uses a landline at home and Google Voice when traveling. I have never carried a cell phone. I use PayPal fairly often, but seldom log onto their web site. Now I cant. Is it true that PayPal has chosen to only deal with the elite who carry cell phones?

Elite? Thought everyone had a mobile phone these days 😊

Anyway yes Paypal has put in place an extra security measure by adding 2FA when you log in via a mobile phone.

Not sure if they will add landlines as an alternative, there has been some posts saying that they can use their landline but others that say not.

You could maybe get a cheap pay as you go phone to keep for accessing online accounts etc?

When it asked for a cellphone I put in my landline number and I received an automated call back with the code and was able to login.  My landline number is connected to my account in the settings on my account.

That does not work for the majority of folks, you are lucky it worked for you that once.

I was just stopped by PayPal from logging in since there is no cell phone service in the low hills south of Hartford, CT. We cannot use a cell phone from our home. I called PayPal and there was no way to send a code over our landline. Their advice was to drive into town, and call from my cell phone there to get a code. But my computer would be back home in my office????? No luck.

It seems like someone at PayPal set this up who believes everyone has a cell phone and that cell phone works at their home or office!!

As i said in my post above, i don't have a signal so i use a phone with wifi phoning, problem solved, maybe that would be an option for you?
