I have tried with PayPal message service but they fail to understand my issue.

all of a sudden the two factor authentication has been put in place on my account which means I can only access my account by a text or phone call to my mobile device,,,,this is when I sign in to PayPal on any device at all.

My issue is, if I loose my mobile phone how do I access my PayPal account ? Message service guy just advised no one will be able to access on phone,,, of course they won’t as they also need password but the problem is neither will I...not sure he understood me...

I have gone into settings and I don’t have the option to turn it off,,only to use secure key or some form of app...I want neither option.

Can anyone help?

I completely agree with you ... I too need to find a way to turn this off!

Security assigned to a phone number is not a great idea... we regularly have network issues in our area where we can't make calls or texts. Being reliant on a third party service to provide a security code for logging in is absurd.  Secondly as you mentioned, what if you lose your phone! That's it, you lose access to your account. This is NOT great especially as I receive regular payments into it.

Also myself and my sister help manage my 74 year old mothers account when she wants to buy something, so trying to explain to her that everytime we login for her (We're socially distancing to keep her safe), we need her to send us a code within a few minutes from a smart phone she can barely use!

2 Factor Auth should be made OPTIONAL... not MANDATORY!
