I need to authenticate my account, but the phone number on file is my old number

When logging in Paypal wants to authenticate my login. It wants to send a code to my phone, unfortunately the phone number is my old work number and I moved on.

I am sorry to know that you are unable to log in to your PayPal account as your phone number has changed. I would recommend you to contact us directly from our website for better assistance.   

Here's how to contact us;  

Open the website www.paypal.com  
Click on 'Help and contact' at the bottom of the page and Select 'Contact us' at the bottom of the next page.   
After that, you can see "Common Issues" and under that click on "Password and Account Access".  
Under Password and account access, you will see the option "Login Problems" and click on that.   
Once you click on "Login Problems" you will see a page with the steps to reset the password. Please scroll down the page and click on  "Call us" to find the contact number of our customer support. These option does not need you to be logged in to contact us.

They don't write a number because in the past scammers have posted threads on here with FAKE paypal numbers and folks have been scammed by using them. Same as you should never google for paypals number as scammers post sites with fake numbers that turn up in a search.

So paypal directs you to the ONLY place where you can get the number that is genuine and safe.

So glad you appreciated their advice and the reason for the 'long winded reply' and were so polite in thanking the moderator for saving you from a possible scam site.

That is apart from hijacking another persons thread and advice.
