How can I get around Paypal trying to force me to add a mobile phone during sign in?

I live in Mexico but am a USA citizen and still come back and use things like eBay from time to time so my Paypal account still reflects an address in the USA but I don't have a USA mobile phone and Paypal keeps trying to enforce me to add one during sign on.  The problem is, they will not allow me to enter a mobile phone with another country code and if I didn't have my laptop automatically sign me into Paypal, I wouldn't be able to sign on at all!  How do I address this narrow-minded restriction?  At some point I'm going to need to access it with a different device and not be able to get beyond their infernal requirement.

If you live in MX, open a MX PayPal account because PayPal accounts are country specific. Its not "mobile" like that in a one PayPal-account-fits-all way. Each country PayPal supports don't operate the same. If you want to pay with your US PayPal account, use your laptop. When you checkout enter a US shipping address at the merchant site to pass it into the PayPal payment.

 

Does it let you click "Skip" or "Not Now"?

 

If you're using the PayPal app, I believe it might let you enter a foreign number. You'll have to check n' see when its prompts you to add a mobile number.

It used to allow me to say "Not Now" but that option has gone away.  I don't use Paypal for Mexico; I use it for the USA.  I have a USA address, I just don't have a USA mobile phone number.  I use a VPN when I want to do USA transactions anyway if I have to from Mexico.  But what if a Paypal member doesn't even have a mobile phone?  Seems like a limitation...I'll ask customer service.  Thanks for the reply!
