Email from Paypal about Limited Access on my account

I am 64 & am unsure about an email I have had from PayPal asking me to log in & provide more information about me, uploading proof of address etc. 1. Is this genuine as making me nervous (at my age!) 2. Is this unique to me or have others been asked to do this? 3. Is there a general reason why I have to do this? Just get anxious about fraud & looking for reassurance to go ahead & complete. Thank you.

Don't worry about it as its probably a spoof so NEVER USE ANY LINK.

Firstly if the email/text addressed you as ''Dear Member'' / ''Customer'' / ''Client'' OR your ''email address'' then that confirms its a spoof as paypal would address you by your full name eg Dear John Smith.

Secondly if there was a link OR attachment in that email/text to ''cancel'' any transaction or ''confirm'' any details then again it would be a spoof.

If there was a problem with your account Paypal would not ask you to click on an unsafe link in an email or by downloading an attachment, they would direct you to log in normally and go to the resolution or the message centre for more information.

Thanks very much. I think by what you have told me that it is genuine as PayPal email have addressed me by name & told me to log into my account & go to notifications. But grateful to your points as it will help me so much to identify fraud & stop my nervousness.
