EBay issue - endless password reset loop

Hi,
I'm trying to complete a purchase I made on EBay. Every time I select PayPal as the payment method I get a pop-up that says PayPal has noticed some unusual recent activity on my account and I need to reset my password. Fine, I reset the PayPal password, go through the Captcha page, and get the confirmation that my password has been reset. I go back to EBay, select PayPal as my payment method and.... the whole process starts all over again. I have reset my PayPal password three or four times now, but it just seems to be an endless loop. It is hugely frustrating, plus the EBay seller has already sent me a message wondering why I'm not paying for my purchase.
I can log into my PayPal account without any problems from the PayPal website, this only happens when I try to log in through EBay to make a payment.
If anyone can shed any light on this I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance
