One of my clients has had 4 clients who tryed to place and pay for orders on her website this past month who all payment issues with Pay Pal:

I was ordering XXXX. After I completed the first XXXX, I tired to "submit" it and it brought me to an error page. I tried several times with no luck. HL
I place the order and it sends me to a page that says "your last transaction could not be completed" - and it has paypal at the top? The site was doing this last week - then I went away and just tried again. Thanks!

I am trying to order a XXXX but when I hit the add to cart it takes me right to the pay pal page with an error message.. Can you please call me or e-mail me XXX-XXX-XXXX. Thanks. JW

clicking "add to cart" the site connects me directly w a pay-pal page that states transaction can not be completed. Thank you, HC
Do you think these are Pay Pal issues or problems with my websites shopping cart.

That error message can be caused by numerous things. Generally if multiple different buyers are receiving the same error message over a wide range of times, the issue is usually with the shopping cart settings. If all of these buyers experienced the issue within a small period of time, it was most likely a temporary issue on PayPal's end. If this is happening to every single buyer over a long period of time, then I would say it's the shopping cart. Based on one of the messages, it looks like the error message occurs immediately after they click the add to cart button. This sounds like shopping cart issue but the error message is very generic so it's hard to know for certain.

Thank you for getting back to me. What do you mean by the problem may be with our PayPal settings? Is that something Pay Pal can fix? Do we needs to fix relative to our shopping cart? Or does it have to do with the clients Pay Pal settings? I am confused.

Sorry for the confusion. The error message they are reporting is very generic so this could be a number of things. It could be on PayPal's side. It could be an issue with the shopping cart and the way the customer is redirected to PayPal during checkout. It could also be on the buyer's end if our security system is detecting anything. We would need more information to determine what's causing the issue.
If you decide to contact our Merchant Technical Support, they'll be able to take a deeper look to troubleshoot the issue. 🙂
