No re-direct after check out.

I'm just starting with PayPal and selling some ebooks from my website:

http://www.home-health-care-physical-therapy.com/home-physical-therapy-store.html

So far, every sale ends up contacting me and telling me that they are not re-directed to the URL I have listed after checkout.  This creates a headache for me and does not allow anything to be auto-pilot.

Does paypal not accept tinyurl.com re-directs?

Thanks in advance!

Marcia

Hi Marcia,

We do accept tinyurl redirects, but I suspect something else is at play here.

Unregistered buyers (guest buyers) have to click on the "Return to merchant"  button before they are returned back to your site. Irrespective of whether or not you have the 'Autuo Return' setting switched on.

This behaviour doesn't occur for registered PayPal buyers.

I'm not 100% sure on the exact reasoning behind this, but I would assume this is because unregistered buyers don't have access to a PayPal account to view the transaction history in. Thus, we give them the option to review the transaction before being redirected.

Fortunately you can rename the "Return to merchant" button to something more descriptive for your particular situation.

Simply include <input type="hidden" name="cbt" value="XXXXXXXX"> (Where 'XXXXXXX' is the value you want to appear on the 'Return to merchant' button. E.g. 'Click here to download your eBook') and place this code inside the PayPal button on your website, between the <form...> and </form> tags.
