Dear Community - please be aware of the following scam that I have been a victim of. I sold some printer cartridges on eBay. The buyer paid by PayPal. After three months the buyer put a chargeback claim in with his card issuer for a refund (£18) saying he hadn't received the cartridges. Despite me providing evidence to Paypal of the transaction details AND the positive feedback posted by the buyer , the buyer was still refunded and the money was deducted from my Paypal account. This means he has acquired the cartridges for free!! When I challenged PayPal they said that because it was a 'chargeback' claim they cannot dispute it! They have issued a partial ex-gratia refund to me in the form of a voucher as compensation but if this had been a much larger transaction I would have been significantly out of pocket.
