I am being charged with tax, I think I accidentally opened a business account. I keep tryin to close it but it keeps saying "5.01 usd was sent to IRS. Add your tax id to avoid future backup witholding". I dont have a social security number, not am I a us citizen. I keep tryin to contact customer service, it takes me to an AI generated message system. I cant dispute this issue in resolution center. Does anyone know what to do in situations like these where I cant close the account "We were unable to close your PayPal account Here are the most common reasons that prevent account closure. Make sure that your account doesn’t have any of the following before trying again: Pending transactions or subscriptions Unresolved actions in the Resolution Center Learn more about how to close your account. If you have any questions, contact us."

If you are not a U.S citizen then why are you using a U.S registered paypal account?

Were a student? Are you no longer in the U.S?

Paypal is country specific so if you move countries you have to close your old Paypal account and open a new Paypal account registered in the country where you now live. You would then need to add an address / phone number / bank accounts / cards from within that country.

You should really withdraw any funds / resolve issues / remove cards and bank accounts / cancel any subscriptions and close the old Paypal account before you move countries. If you don't then you may have problems doing so once you have moved and may need to contact customer services for help to resolve things.
