Did you finish off the verification by adding your bank account and then the 4 digit code?

Well that was what i suggested......when did they send the code as it takes up to a week to show up on your bank statement.

so it turns out they sent it to me in 2011 but to a bank account i no longer have, so how do i get them to send a new one to my current bank account because the option is not there for me, the only option i have is typing in the 4 letter code??

When you added the bank account you now have on your paypal account they would have sent it at the same time you added it.
