Withholding money

Ok..............I am now seriously annoyed and speaking to a solicitor to follow up on this.

2 months ago i started a business, first order was paid for at the begining of january, they withheld the money for 27 days! during that time i had to refuse customers as i did not have the resources to purchase more materials.

3 orders  @ £275 each = £825

they then release my money after after a very annoyed email.....to which i get no reponse.

I go through the process of verifiying my bank account when i set up the paypal, my home address. I transfer the money into my account 5 days ago and i am still waiting!

countless emails and no response!

It is illegal to withhold money! online or otherwise!

for the 32 days they have had my money.....which i was charged to the transaction, it has been sat in there bank account gathering interest..............

therefore I would like a reply from someone within paypal as to why it is acceptable to break laws!

As i have said in my last email. I will check my account first thing tomorrow morning and if it is not there then I will take legal steps to seek compensation and legal action!

OK i don't work for paypal but i doubt you will get a mod responding for a while.

1. Yes its legal, you agreed to the need for holds when you ticked to say you read and agreed to the user agreement when you joined paypal so save your solicitors fees.   Smiley Wink

2. The 21 days hold for new sellers is part of buyer protection. EVery ebay seller including myself has been through it and most don't mind as it weeds out bad sellers meaning ebay is safer for buyers and the rest of us benefit as they stay buying on ebay.

HERES SOME INFO FOR YOU:
Why your payments are held.

• You have been selling on eBay for less than 90 days
• You have an eBay feedback score fewer than 100 as a seller and have not yet established a record of good performance
• You have received fewer than 20 Detatiled Seller Ratings on eBay in the last 12 months or your eBay seller performance is below standard
• You have a high rate of customer disputes or a low eBay feedback percentage
• You have been a PayPal member for less than 6 months and have limited selling activity
• You have a sudden change in selling activities (e.g. suddenly selling expensive items, selling large numbers of items, etc.)
• You happen to be selling in a high risk category such as tickets, travel, gift vouchers, computers, electronics, mobile phones, etc.
Depending on the circumstances, paypal may set aside payments for a single transaction or for all payments to sellers who meet the criteria above.

How can I get the payments released before 21 days.

1. If your buyer leaves feedback (pos) then funds are normally released within 48 hours of that feedback being left.
2. If you decide to send an item trackable then you can add the tracking number to the details of the paypal transaction and funds are then released when the item shows as delivered + 3 days.

What if I have met the criteria for release either earlier or at 21 days and the funds are still held.

Then you can email or phone paypal via contact us bottom of paypal pages with the transaction numbers of the items and ask them to "hurry up" and release your dosh.

You are right in that they should not hold in past 22 days, but sometimes you have to email them the transaction id and remind them to release it.

As for your bank transfer it can take 5-7 days to hit your bank account.

I'm with the other guys. I have had my account permanently limited and I have e-mailed time and time again to ask what I have done such that they have taken the decision to do this and they will not tell me. I think this means I'm suspected of fraud. The only thing I can think of that would put me in this category is that the guys I work with wanted to practice the point of sale stuff so we could be sure it worked with a real transaction. So, I used my debit and credit cards to take some imaginary payments then could withdraw the cash back. It would cost me money to practice I thought but worth it rather that dropping the ball on a real transaction. They asked for proof of delivery. How? We are a group of individuals who provide adult services. We're male, our customers are female (mainly) and most of them would prefer not to confirm 'delivery'. We can't sell on eBay. Of course. I agree with that, it's fine but PayPal is not exclusively eBay's bean counting gimp. It is also a financial internet bank effectively. So why hold people to rules around eBay when we don't advertise or sell there? Let's say we did, not many would write feedback and eBay's adult policies would restrict and redact everything anyway. It's stupid. If you're selling intangibles the rules when applied ridgedly automatically mean that you're as well phuqed as one of our customers (see that PayPal? Subliminal advertising.....). I have e-mailed so many times. It's only £300. But it's the principle. It's my money. I have apologised for using my card to pay myself. I just didn't think about it. When I read the rules properly I kicked myself because you could get a cash advance as a purchase from a credit card. Ok. I see that. I said sorry. It was a silly error born of ignorance not malicious intent to defraud. Who the phuq launders £300? You could just go to the casino. I've offered to go to the police with them if they think I'm committing fraud or doing something illegal but still no response. PayPal might not like the business from a moral stand point. I don't like slave child labour in Asia but I don't see Primark's bank accounts being frozen. Judgmental anyone? Still, I wait.
