Why do I need to give you my online banking information and my pass code when we are constantly being told not to give out our pass codes due to identity theft.

As we don't really know exactly what you are referring to, this is only a guess - if you are trying to verify your PayPal Account, one method to do is to link a bank account however, this process does not ask for any passcodes, only a routing number and name of bank.
