Purchases are protected?

A few weeks ago,  I placed an order through eBay for a Sony Duo Pro memory stick paid via my PayPal account.

The Seller's Name is Lieu Hennaing.

The memory was for my Sony DISC-whew camera. It came from China about three weeks later. When it arrived there was one problem, it wouldn't work in the camera.  I received a particular error code and message when it was inserted. I have two other Sony memory sticks I spent parts on the next two days interfacing with Sony technical support. Sony determined the stick was "defective".

I began to suspect that the memory was a fake. I looked around on the internet and discovered this is not uncommon for proprietary product of this type coming out  of China.  After finding a number of documents on the internet which identified the telltale signs of these counterfeits, it was clear this was a fake. Selling counterfeit product is fraud. I offered to forward all packaging and the product to Papal to support my claim.

Papal denied the claim in a perfunctory manner with a canned "do not respond to this email" message without even asking for the product and packaging to support the claim.

At this point I can only question the ethics of Papal.

When they claim that the purchase is protected they really mean the vendor.

I intend to pursue this further with PayPal. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, beware of this vendor and sourcing proprietary product out of China.

Has anyone else had the same experience?
