You should receive the seller's invoice in your PayPal account linked email address. If the seller claims to have sent an invoice and you didn't receive it, login to your PayPal account to see if the invoice is there.
If the invoice is not there, maybe the seller sent the invoice to the wrong PayPal account... ask the seller to resend the invoice to your correct PayPal email address.

Sorry, I am a new user/selller, been a small scale buyer in the past..
Maybe I am missing something....why would I want seller to know my email address which is used to login to PayPal. That seems to conflict with the identity protection, security, privacy themes.
Seller asked for email address to send corrected Ebay invoice. I provided an alternate email and expected/hoped I could pay the invoice similar to online retail purchase through PayPal. Execute the link in the invoice, then login with PayPal email info seller does not ever see.
PayPal would not allow me to pay invoice sent to JohnDoe@mail using login JaneDoe@mail.
or...is it possible to set up the email address which Pay Pal messages are sent does not have to be the same as my PayPal login email address ?
