I sell things and at the end of every month I like to transfer it in total to my checking account and post it to my accounting as my sales. It seems that if I ever buy anything it takes those funds first then charges the balance to my credit card. I need it to just charge the credit card the full amount. Is there any way to force this?

Yes I'm very interested in knowing how to do this. I share my e-bay account with my brother and we use our own credit cards for paying but I'm going to begin selling soon and I don't want paypal to use my account balance from any sales I have, when my my brother purchases his items. There SHOULD be a way to do this.
Will Paypal or someone please answer this? Pleeasse!

Hi All,
As mentioned in section 3.2 of the PayPal User Ageement, when you make a payment, if you have not selected a Preferred Payment Method, PayPal will fund your transaction in this order:
- Balance
- Instant Transfer from your bank account
- PayPal Credit
- Debit card
- Credit card
- eCheck
Note: We will use your Balance first even if you have selected a Preferred Payment Method (unless your Preferred Payment Method is PayPal Credit or eCheck in which case we will use these Payment Methods first). If you don't want to use your Balance, you can withdraw it before making a payment.

How do I change my Preferred Payment to - 5. Credit Card?
I would like to use an American Express, which could add another layer of buyer protection against scams. If the money comes direct out of my checking account as it does currently, there is far less protection from scammers (so I've been advised).

Think I just got the answer from another thread...
"Hi All,
You can review and modify your payment method before your payment is sent. During the payment flow:
- Click "Change" or "More funding options" to select a different way to pay.
- After you send a payment, you can't change the payment method.

Sorry, but that answer isn't very useful. I think the OP wants the *default* method of payment to be the credit card. Actually, I want the same thing, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do it even though I've been using this service for over 10 years.
Manually changing the payment method every time is labor intensive and a needless complication to something that should be very simple, imho.
