How do I cancel my account, paypal wants to hold funds.

So I sold something 8 days ago to a new(ish) buyer on ebay, and paypal decides to put a hold on me being able to get the funds out!

This is just stupid, I have LITERALLY channeled 10's of thousands of dollars through paypal over the past 2 years, and I have a 100% feedback rating on Ebay.  I want to cancel my account, I will be using another auction service that uses another payment altertnative...

I sent paypal an email asking the same question 7 days ago, but no answer, so I'm asking you, how can I cancel my account.

I also want to cancel my paypal account because I don't want to give them my bank information. The instructions say to go to "my account" and click on "My Profile" at the top of the page. There is no "Profile" at the top of the page. I tried to email for help, but kept going around in circles. Do I have to pay for a long distance phone call to get this done?

You cannot close an account if you have any pending transactions and/or holds.   After the transactions have been cleared or holds released,  you should then withdraw your PayPal balance funds and then follow these steps:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Click Profile at the top of the page.
3. Click Close Account under Account Information and follow the instructions.
