Can I use paypal as a basic Escrow service?

I am soon to buy a couple of items from somebody but need to nkow something first.

Is it possible for me to send a payment to him BUT for it not to clear until after I have received the item and told the payment to go through.

I am trying to find out the same thing.  If PayPal provides a basic escrow service to buyers and sellers where PayPal hold payment until the buyer is satisfied that what he has purchaed is what he expected.

PayPal should review these posts and place something on their web site to provide answers.  The robot Sarah didn't work for me.

Unfortunately not as there are no built in features or options to support what you have in mind.
