Buyer control of Recurring Payments aka Subscription Payments

I needed BUYER's viewpoint help about 'Recurring Payments'.

All that's available is how to setup recurring payments for the SELLER.

As a buyer and Paypal customer, I need and want access to full control over who I am sending money to, ESPECIALLY those who are recurring deductions from my account.

As a BUYER, it would be great if there were a simple page where I could add, edit and delete recurring payments to different sellers/vendors that I buy from.

Make my Christmas! Give me what I want.  After all, I'm the customer.

Thanks, and Merry Christmas,

Kurt

You must have a PP account. So in the account interface you can cancel a subscription. IF the Seller of the WPS subscription also bothers they can setup links to a simple cancel subs form (which merely takes you to your account login to do same).

add ???

Irrelevant. How can YOU add a WPS subscription other than by visiting a WPS Subscription service seller's website? Sorry, that doesn't make sense.

edit (assuming meant edit payment value)

Irrelevant. Logically only a Seller of a subscription or recurring payments service can make adjustments to a subscription profile. Advanced WPPro Sellers can setup "recurring" payments and more readily adjust payments that way but never the subscriptions / recurring payments customers; that just wouldn't make sense.

So, you can readily cancel a subscription at anytime, but edit or add a subscription... that would be akin to agreeing to buy from a shop but then naming your own price!!!

I disagree with a few points you have made.

Yes, I've already figured out how to cancel a subscription, and still would like to be able to set them up from my end...

I have a team of 7 VA's working for me. Some are more savvy using PayPal than others. I pay them set fees at the beginning of each month and would very much like to set up a subscription to do so automatically for each.

I realize that they can set up a merchant BUY button to their site, however it would be easier for me to set it up on my end because I don't have time to walk them through the process!

Thanks for your remarks!

WPS Subscriptions require the subscriber to have an existing PP account (or create simply by adding a password).

So of course if you were to obtain that account info you can do whatever you want to, set up your own button forms or whatever. But of course you could also drain their accounts!!

However, it is NOT logical that, although in your mind your intention is honorable, anyone could cause anyone else to become subscribed to whatever one wants to just get their money... you just need to have their PP account info to do so (or ccard info if by any other provider).

So what's the difference, with their supplied details they sign up or you sign up for them?

As for just charging an account when ever you want to and outside the terms of the subscription would also mean the system is wide open to abuse.

...and then if YOU the seller activates the payment, when ever, that IS NOT a subscription service but simply a series of individual payments you organize with anothers account info.

Alternatively you might consider using "Mass Payments" you can readily organize programmaticly or manually via your seller account interface.

Now using a PP WPPro account and the new APIs one can get a bit closer whereby one can acquire a customers permission to make "recurring" deductions and then process them on their behalf programmaticly when needed, even making cost changes readily. In fact there are a couple of options one could pursue through the APIs.
