1. You have been a member for 100 days BUT is it 90 days have passed since your first successful eBay sale?

2. You have 500 transactions BUT are they JUST selling transactions as you need to have had over 25 SELLING transactions.

3. Have you >>  generated more than £165 in total sales??

You need all these plus others for the hold to be released and to be known as a trustworthy seller according to paypal.

I understand paypal holds any refunds (pending/temp hold) so they can make interest off it but how much longer will I have to wait for my money to be put back into my account?

Its been long enough now and Im getting frustrated.

No they don't.

Two reasons for paypal holds on refunds.

1. Temp hold.

This arises because your seller has refunded you before your initial payment to them has cleared from your bank to PayPal.

When you sent your payment, the money is not instantly transferred from your bank account to the recipient’s PayPal account. Instead paypal instantly credit the recipient's PayPal account on your behalf and simultaneously request the same amount from your bank account to reimburse themselves.

It takes 5-7 business days for the money to arrive from your bank to PayPal (same timeframe and method as an eCheque in fact). If your Instant Bank Transfer is refunded, this refund cannot be completed until paypal receive the money from your bank to cover the original payment paypal made.

A ‘Temporary Hold’ is ‘Placed’ on your refund while your bank processes your initial transfer request. When paypal receive the money from your bank, it will be credited to your PayPal balance.

2. Pending.

A seller can only issue a refund via funds in their paypal balance or an echeque So if its an echeque it has to clear through to the sellers paypal account and then it is credited to you and the hold lifted.

This is because paypal don't "refund in advance" like they do when you pay for an item.
