I have had some money pending in my PayPal account for several months, and I'm trying for the third time to withdraw it. PayPal has my account details and I have been promised that a small amount of money will be debited and I can then enter in a code to confirm the acccount. 

 

No such payment has been made - every time I've tried it's been the same. I don't know whether PayPal has the wrong account details, or what - but this is getting frustrating! I don't think it can be wrong, because I have transferred money before!

Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting.

Are you trying to confirm your bank account or bank card registered on your PayPal account? There are two different process depending on what you need to confirm.

Here’s how to confirm a card:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  3. Click the card you want to confirm. (You'll only have the option to confirm cards with a 'Confirm' banner.)
  4. Click OK.

When you click ‘OK’, we'll charge your card £1. This will 'link' your card. We'll refund the money into your PayPal account within 24 hours of you confirming your card.

Check your card statement within 2-3 working days and find the randomly generated 4-digit PayPal code beside (or near) the £1 charge. The code will be printed between the words 'PAYPAL' and 'CODE'. (e.g. PAYPAL* 1234 CODE). If your online card statement shows pending transactions you may be able to see the code within minutes. If you can't check your statement online, you can wait for your next paper statement or contact your bank.

 

Once you've retrieved the necessary information from your card statement you can confirm your card by following these steps:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  3. Click the card that you're ready to confirm.
  4. Enter the information and click Confirm.

Here’s how to confirm your bank account:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  3. Select the desired bank account and click Confirm.
  4. Click Continue, and review and submit the Direct Debit details. (If the bank account is a business account or more than one person is required to authorise debits, you must print and sign a paper Bank Funding Instruction and post it to the address provided.)

We'll deposit 1p in your bank account. You'll find a 4-digit code next to the 1p deposit on your statement. This should appear in your bank account within the next few minutes, but may take up to two hours, depending on your bank.

When you know the 4-digit code:

  1. Go to www.paypal.com/uk and log in to your account.
  2. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  3. Click Unconfirmed next to the bank account to confirm.
  4. Enter the 4-digit code and click Confirm.
