Hi,
I called PayPal on the 9th Jan 2016 to open a claim regarding a phone I paid for on 25th October 2015. The phone was rebooting within a week of purcahse, I contacted the seller, they continuously delayed replying, the had a specialist take control of my computer and restart the software of the phone, the problem continued and the seller would not respond to me whether this would be a replacement or repair.
I knew I had 180 days of paypal claim, so I filled this on 9th Jan. I spoke to the claims department and everything went smoothly, so I thought, the person on the phone told me to wait 10 days, if I had not recieved a response from the seller via paypal, I'd have won my claim and refund.
10 days went. I called paypal from them to tell me my claim was closed. The person I spoke to rushed me. Told me he'd reopen it and then put me on hold. In that time, I could see my email account was receiving new emails from paypal. Sending me an email CLOSING my claim on the 9th and reopening a new claim. When I got back from being on hold, the person said the seller had 10 days to respond.
I could tell he was hiding something. I asked him for an explanation as to why my claim was closed. He told me it was a mistake by his co-worker on the 9th, that he ticked the wrong boxes and the claim automatically closed. I asked him if that was so, why wasn't I informed via email of this. That I waited 10 days without an email saying my claim was closed. He told me I was told. I pushed back and told him to forward me that email I was sent. He returned telling me that I was indeed NOT sent the email and that his coworkers on the 9th only sent the email to the seller and not to me. Unreal.
Paypal lost me 10 days of my 180 days claim. The seller has an extra 10 days to BS their way into not refunding me.
I am fuming. On top of having to deal with an awful seller and their customer support, I have to deal with PayPals awful customer support team!? There is a lot of money at stake with this kind of business, how could someone make that kind of mistake? If this was 172 days into my purchase, I would not have been able to fill another claim.
Is there anything I could do to take action against PayPal? Thanks

You can file a claim on day 180 days if you want to.
You have up to 180 days to START a claim, you don't have to have it finished by then.
Luckily you have buyer protection as you paid with paypal.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
