Monarch Receivership Pay Pal Buyer Protection

Hi

Does any one know if Pay Pal buyer protection works? I was led to beleive my recent loss  of payment to Monarch for Flights would be protected by Pay Pal,and tole not tto worry as I was protected.

It apears now that I am not protected as I have heard nothing as yet for Pay Pay or the receivers.

It really does mean I have to consider dumping Pay Pal as means of paying for items as if I hade used a credit  card I would have been protected ,even a Debit card would have offered some protection.

I tried raising a complaint at the resolution centre weeks ago as I disnt receive the goods, but nothing doing there either.I have to say Pay Pal are looking rather second rate when it comes to buyer protection and I will certainly be thinking twice in the future.

Hi there,

As you mentioned the flight was booked within 180 days and you appeared to have opened the wrong type of claim. This can easily be resolved by calling PayPal on freephone 0800 358 7911.

Are you within the 180 days since payment?

Why could you not open a dispute in the resolution centre?

If you failed to do so then did you phone c.s. as they would have done it for you?

Hi yes I am still within the 180 days, the reason they appear to not allowing me to raise the subject is this.I originally raised the subject under the wrong terms,so now they just won't let me raise it again as they have it as already dealt with. I'm not sure what CS you mention is,I did speak to one guy from pay Pal when monarch went into receivership, the guy said no problem don't worry your protected, but I'm still waiting.Regards John

Well surely you would open a dispute for non receipt of item / service wouldn't you?

If you opened one for another reason and it was closed then you may have lucked out.

You can only open x1 dispute per transaction.

And c.s = customer services.

Hi it seems that's what has happened. Not very good really as there is no option for company gone into receivership.I was obviously fobbed off on the phone and lulled into a sense of false security,no doubt waiting for the 180 day rule to kick in. I know now Pay Pal do not offer protection as they like everyone to think they do all bull shine I'm afraid.I will use credit cards in future, their loss in the long run not mine. Thanks for responding much appreciated.John

Just to be clear,I did open the resolution centre complaint under the heading of goods not received. But they said no you can't open it up under that heading.End if story.Regarfs John

Loads of folks let down by Monarch are receiving refunds via paypal buyer protection as we speak.

If you have not then you must be either outside of the 180 days or you opened a dispute with the wrong option.

If you feel that is not accurate then contact paypal customer services by phone and ask why you were not covered.

Hi I don't know really why they haven't come up with answers.we bought flights via PayPal on the 2nd of August ,flight only,I was told not to worry as everything was ok,but haven't heard anything.I have today sent a complaint to Pay Pal and I'm hoping they reply to let me know why we don't qualify under buyer protection.Regards John

I did it seems use the wrong terminology when in the resolution centre as I complained that the payment was false. But I only did that as that was as close as I could get in options offered.I didn't know about buy protection then.I don't see what that has to do though with monarch taking payment and then going into receivership.Regards John
