e.paypal.com - how did they get my information?

No sooner had I made my first Paypal transaction than I started getting emails from "e.paypal.com" with my name and "shopping opportunities". I was immediately suspicious of this, and the links in the email lead to somewhere that's not this site ("email.edg.paypal.com"?). Everything that this site has sent me has ended in "paypal.com" and Googling this leads to pages and pages of warnings about "e.paypal.com" scams.
This seems like pretty obvious phishing. My question is this: How did they get my email address so fast? How do they have my name?
