I just sold an item for 99 cents. Paypal charged me 62 cents to receive the payment from my buyer. Won't do that again!

Why in the world people list things for 99 cents is beyond me - there is no way you can make money doing it unless you deal in high volume.

And OF COURSE they're going to charge fees on postage - it costs the same amount of money to move a payment around, whether it goes to a seller or the Post Office.

Duh.

I sold a saw on eBay.  The buyer paid the full amount, but paypal took $12.68  what's up with that? I did read something about shipping labels I didn't not use that feature I made my own.... In that case I will not use paypal again. Can anyone please explain this!

Payment services (PayPal, Paymate, Moneybookers, etc) and merchant account providers calculate their fees based on the total amount sent.
