Fees Double Dipping

I was wondering how eBay and PayPal justify the fee double dipping. For example, If I have an auction close for $10. Buyer pays instant pay through PayPal. PayPal charges 2.9% + $0.30 on the $10. I am billed by eBay 9% of the $10 (including 9% of shipping fees I don't make a dime on) Shouldn't PayPal charge 2.9% of my net earned from the auction. Meaning for a $10 auction, shouldn't I only be charged 2.9% of $9.10?

True, but if you do, then the buyer gives bad rating on shipping.  Best off just increasing your starting price.

Key word here is billed.  Ebay bills you for transactions which you have to pay at the end of the month. Whereas, Paypal takes their fees instantly. Granted, it all **bleep**, cause if you try to set a sell price so that you cover all the fees and make an acceptable profit, then you're lucky if it will sell.  What's worst, is to offer free shipping.  Try to cover the fees and shipping cost and make a profit without getting nailed for excessive pricing.

I just realized this! I am QUITTING EBAY! They are actually charging 3 times. Ebay owns Paypal. They cahrge for auction final fee, a shipping fee, and payapl charges you too! This is BS!!! What a scam!! It makes it not worth sellingthings. I assume most people don't realize they are getting charged so much! I didn't until, my coworker told me to look at the my account fees!!!

I found Bonanza.com and although not an auction site, a great for sale site for used items at fixed prices, and there fees are about 1/4 of e-bay.  I have had some success already, but it is a new learning experience....

As for the Double dipping we need an attorney to see if we can start a class action suit against e-bay.  anybody have any suggestions.

Class action sounds like a good idea.  I'll have to check out Bonanza. Can I use Paypal with them? Paypal seems okay without ebay for my personal shipping and other online financial transactions.

Absolutely you can use Pay pal, at least that way only paying a fee on s hipping one time and bonanza's fees are about 1/3 of e-bay.

Bonanza, I'm there!!   RIGHT ON!!  Free unlimited listings! No listing time limit!   Ebay has taken their last penny from me.  This is awesome. Live chat with other member while you sell or buy.

Bonanza is NOT the better way. The un-mentioned fact, you have to do the promoting and advertising of your items. Items are only auto listed in Google search. Smiley Sad So, I tuck my tail and head back to ebay where I at least made sales. Ran across 3 people in Bonanza who were there a year and made 1 sale. Got more to do each day than post and promote all day.Smiley Indifferent

You can import your e-bay into bonanza and just mention in all your e-bay auctions, that you now can be found on Bonanza.  I put on two items two start, and sold 1 in two days.  It is certainly worth a try since it costs nothing to list.

And my guess is there are enough people fed up with e-bay that Bonanza will start buidling a better reputation.
