Fee's are overpriced on overseas ebay sells.

I am an ebay seller and I have no problem paying a fee for my transaction with Paypal, however, I think its is wrong to charge a fee based on the full gross amount of the transaction. I sell to many overseas customers and their shipping rates are extrememly high. This is even more wrong considering I use PayPal to pay and print each shipping label, paypal is then aware that I am not 'grossing' the amount they charge!

Example:

If I sell an item for $125 to a US customer with $12 shipping charge, my total fee from PayPal is around $4.

If I sell an item for $125 to a customer from New Zealand with a $45 shipping charge, my total fee from Paypal is around $7.

Both items sell for the same amount, Paypal can see that I am using the full $45 to pay for the shipping because I am using paypal shipping services. I am only truly getting $125 from the customer, in both instances.

Paypal should consider changing this policy. Anyone with me?

Have you found any payment service which doesn't include the shipping charge when calculating their fee?

I can feel your frustration in this matter.

Unfortunately the others are right that the current business market is designed to push that outter envelope of what the market will bare. Ethics are not a consideration in American Business. Please do not be confused.

An Ethical man can be a great businessman if he follows his own path, but there is a balance between Wisdom and Understanding that proves it wise to Know the sysytem and work it to your advantage.

Possiblly an example of this would be to create a shipping account with your Favorite Shipping vendor. This will create a difference between the retail value for shipping and your actual cost of shipping. That difference is a proffit for shipping. Charge you customer the retail amount. But pay the Shipping service their lowered price. This percentage could make up for the diffrence in Paypals fees you are not in agreement with.

Other options could prove more difficult i.e. Learn all the international laws, apply for a license and start you own international payment service.

It could be simpler, i.e. actually write Paypal many letters, and maybe they will grace you your fees (which could be nominal in thier grand view of things) simply for your persistance. But don't hold your breath here.

~never let em hold you down. The burden is in your own mind.

It would seem from your post that you only pay an additional $3.00 when sending overseas.  I agree with you that some people who reply to these posts that are "Advisors" should think before they reply as they often come off sounding a bit arrogant, and this does not apply to everyone, just the select few and they know who they are.  Perhaps you can find common ground by splitting the difference with paypal by charging $1.50 more on your item. Then at least you will feel a little better about how much you are receiving.

To be honest I really feel that everything Ebay, as well as Paypal does in their business dealings as far as charging us sellers, is clearly written out for all to see.  We just all need to perhaps once in a while re-look at policies and if we do have a question ask!!!
