I subscribe to a magazine using an annual Paypal payment.
The Paypal website claims that the payment will appear on my credit card statement as "PAYPAL *MAGAZINENAME".
It doesn't. It appears as "RECURRENT TRANSACTION, 353143690". Every year I waste time trying to work out wtf this means. (Turns out that the number is part of Paypal's office number in Dublin).
This is extremely unhelpful. Who should correct it - the card issuer (Santander), Paypal, or the merchant?

It appears that the number 35314369001 is used by traders who use PayPal for financial transactions on other cards but not directly via PayPal. So these transactions never show on your PayPal account as the goods were not purchased from them but directly from companies trading on eBay. This can cause confusion but the transactions are normally genuine, just not through PayPal.
