I am new to paypal and didnt really no what was going on! I was selling my iphone 6 when someone contacted me reguarding this. I had a long email conversation where the buyer agreed to pay £510.00 for the phone + postage! I sent the money request via paypal to her email for £510.00 witch we both agreed! The payment then went off my paypal activity, it was pending so i thought it had gone due to her paying and it being in the progress of going thru! So anyway she sent me the address and of to the post office i went and posted my iphone 6😞 Then i started receiving these messages from a paypal email i now no is a spam!! It wasnt until they told me that due too error they had send me £810.00 witch is £300 over what should have been paid and that they had contacted the buyer and my funds would be released and in my account as soon as i refunded the £300 to the buyer witch they wanted me to do via western union! Thats when it clicked that this isnt right!! Since then i have emailed the buyer numerous times and surprise surprise ive had no reply! So now my iphone is on its way to nigeria and i havent been payed and by what ive experienced i clearly the buyer will not be paying😞 Im in absolute bits iver this as im due to have baby in 4 weeks and the money was to by last bits😞 Am i covered by seller protection? Will i ever get my money? Someone please help😞😭

So sorry but no you are not covered as no part of the transaction was done via paypal.

The emails you received were spoofs and all you did was send a money request that was not paid.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the funds are showing in your paypal account balance.

Paypal NEVER tell you to use a rival money transfer service.

This scam has been ongoing for years but that does not help you of course. Its really best to read up on seller protection etc before you start selling and also remember that you never send anything until the funds show in your paypal balance.

How long ago did you send the item?? Only if you get hold of the post office they can sometimes re-call things.

I am amazed the post office let you send it without asking if it was a sale item as they must know about this scam by now.
