Consequence of dispute cancellation.

I opened a 'goods not as described' dispute for an eBay purchase with eBay. As a back-up, I decided to open an identical dispute with PayPal, not realising that the eBay claim would be automatically cancelled as a result.
Firstly: . . Have I done the right thing ? Would it have been more prudent to follow the dispute . . . . . through EBay.
Secondly: . . If I cancel the PayPal claim, can I reinstate it at a later date if required ?
Thank you for any advice.
Mark.

Hi sostoad,
Thank you for contacting the PayPal Community Forum.
You can only 1 claim for the 1 transaction which is why the eBay claim would have automatically closed. If you close a PayPal dispute before it is fully resolved with the seller you cannot re-open it again.

Thank you.
I can now understand why it happened. I just wish that eBay had told me before I went ahead with the PayPal claim.
