Help! PayPal closed the case because the seller didn't collect the item. Lost $217!!!

Hi, i just received the e-mail, saying that my case is closed and ebay
will not be able to process a refund ($217.90). The reason- they can’t confirm
the delivery of the item. Sorry to say, but I feel betrayed, as I provided all
the requested information and the post office tracking site confirms that the
delivery on the stated address (in China) was attempted on 02/04/2011. If the
seller didn’t want to collect the item – I shouldn’t be my problem… Now I’m
advised to work directly with the seller, but she doesn’t want to cooperate and
that was the reason I contacted the resolution centre in the first place. And
it’s not a small amount just to forget about it. But the worst thing is –the seller
is informed that the case is closed, she will collect the item now and I’ll get
neither the item, nor the refund. What shall I do, can anybody advise me?!

I am a bit confused with your situation. Smiley Surprised

 

So, you are the Buyer who paid $217.90 for the item bought from the Seller in China.

The item was delivered to you, but you sent it back for some reason

And expect the refund of your money from the Seller.

 

If this correct, I advise you to contact PayPal, talk to the live Agent, mention the Buyer's protection, blah-blah-blah

PayPal should give you the refund - no fault on your side.

Hi, thanks for the respond! Yes, everything is correct. Bought the fur vest from China, poor quality, contacted the seller for the refund, seller refused, opened a case with PP, sent the item back, provided PP with the copy of a receipt, post office delivery site confirmed attempted delivery on 02/04/11, PP asked for the tracking number again, submitted the number, PP closed the case on 13/04/11 as the couldn't confirm the delivery, the delivery information is still on the site... Ridiculous!!! Can't access the case details anymore and sent a complain obout PP. See what they say...

What shipping method did you use to return the item?

 

USPS Priority fails to track any item past the foreign countries customs and customs forms are no good to PP as is doesn't show if the item was delivered or even made it past customs.

 

So if you shipped UPS, Fedex, DHL, or USPS Express Mail I would imagine you could appeal this decision easily and get it reversed.

I would press the point (with PayPal) that merchandise was poor quality.

Totally agree with your situation, went through the same problem with paypal, you are not alone here.... check out my posts and you can follow along there..... paypal is totally scared of dealing with the chinese, they must have a stake in the company somewhere.... they supply fake addresses or too large to fit fully on the return slips and paypal always sides with them, there must be a larger commission for paypal when it comes to asian orders.... or they have the paypal system so figured out that they need to hired a few intelligent people to compensate for the "copy and paste generic response" ones they presently have.
