Whenever a payment is made you should receive an email receipt, either from the merchant and/or PayPal. Do a date search of your email inbox, perhaps it may have the info to jog your memory.
If there is a record of payment in your PayPal activity, click it and click "Report a problem" to open a dispute. If there is no record in PayPal, then call your financial institution where the charge appears to report it unauthorized.
