Unauthorized Transaction dispute declined

I recently opened up a case about an unauthorized transaction. It was a payment of $10.00 to a seller called "Mojetic Visions". Unfortunately Paypal has closed this case and claimed it to be "not unauthorized". I am very certain i've never purchased anything from this seller. I'm not concerned about the amount but more of my account security. How did this happen? Is my account being used by someone else? More importantly, since this Paypal is linked to my bank account, would people also be able to breach my bank account or is this strictly a paypal issue?
Paypal hasn't exactly been helpful either. I've tried calling them, messaging them on the help center and I keep getting redirected into the same loop directions. Does anybody have any advice on this issue? Would simply disconnecting my bank account entirely solve the issue? Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you!

Your account is likely not at risk, but if you are worried, just change your password. Yes, you can disconnect your bank account, but as soon as you need to make a purchase you will need to reconnect it.
I've been with PayPal probably over 15 years as a business user, I keep money in my account, and it is entirely safe 99.9% of the time. When things do occasionally happen, it's usually because I've made a back choice. But I have NEVER not got my money back from PayPal. So it's odd that your resolution was rejected...they must have really good proof of some sort. Usually for $10 they will return it ahead of time without a blink, so there must be more to the story I'm thinking.
If you don't have it set yet, make sure that you have 2-step verification turned on for your account, so no one but you can log in for certain. Use a very strong password, nothing hinky, no words found in a dictionary, use scrambled letters, lower case AND caps, and a character of 2 stuck in, at least around 10 characters. Let your browser remember it, and just manage "physical" security on your computer/device. (lock the desktop if you leave the house, don't give passwords to other family members, etc.) If you are using the PayPal app on your phone, you should be able to log in with your phone number and your PayPal pin....but still use 2-step verification. if you do all that, your account WILL be secure.
None of that means that bad website won't grab your card information, so make sure you only make purchases in sites with SSL encryption (https:// NOT HTTP://)
hope that helps.

Looks like they produce videos for weddings / events etc.
Check if you had a subscription set up...
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments''.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Thanks for responding! I just checked and I haven't even set up any automatic payments on Paypal. I just find it strange since i've never heard of this company before, and i've never subscribed to anything film or wedding related. Fortunately this payment occurred back in July and no additional payments have been made so it's probably safe to assume it was a one time thing. But again, the fact that I really don't recall subscribing or paying for something called "Mojetic Visions" is a little alarming. If it helps, the transaction was classified as a "Payment" and considered retail.

Thanks for the response! I'll definitely do 2 step verification. I don't doubt that Paypal is a secure company, but I really don't remember ever making a purchase or subscribing to "Mojetic Visions". The transaction did take place back in July so luckily it was probably a one time thing, but what concerns me is how the transaction even occurred. If this provides any information, the transaction was classified as a "Payment" and retail.

if the company where the transaction was made is not a totally 'corrupt' company, there is usually some information in the transaction details, like a website URL, an email, or phone number. If there is, you can do a lot with that. You can get a hold of them and simply ask them.
If you really don't know, then someone may have fraudulently used your PayPal account, and really the only way to do this is if you have unsecure passwords in BOTH your PayPal account, AND your email account. So, whatever email account is tied to your PayPal account, you should also secure that..change the password, (which you should do AT LEAST once or twice a year for all email accounts anyway!) and turn on 2-step verification for the email address that is attached to your PayPal account. (I use 1 email address for ALL internet related traffic, website subscriptions, including PP and banking, and I tighten that one down)
Also check your PayPal and banking notifications. (There is NO WAY IN HECK a transaction would hit ANY of my accounts, and I wouldn't know about it in 5 minutes...before it even posts at the very least) ...so check your notifications, and make SURE they are set up, and that you are getting them, in more than place (both email and phone) if possible.
Other than that, all I can say is there are crooks out there, and they usually find a way. People are usually surprised to find out (when/if they ever do figure how something happened) that it was usually someone they knew if it wasn't an error of their own. Make sure you don't fall prey to any phishing attempts...use good email practices and NEVER CLICK ANY LINKS IN EMAILS! People often think that they are too smart to be phished...but I'm in I.T., and I work with security CONSTANTLY...and "I've" been got...so if they can get me, (and other I.T. professionals, check YouTube) ...then they can get you also if you aren't careful. People see an email they think is from a site they regularly visit because it has their logos and images, and they usually don't think twice before they click the link, go a site that looks just like the one they went to last time, but it wasn't...there was 1 or 2 letters different in the URL, and it was just a good fake. Hacking and Malware and phishing attempts have climbed over 50% since covid-19. These guys have been locked down in other countries (much worse than the U.S.) ...and they have had nothing better to do than to be creative with their hacking and phishing attempts. Some of them are QUITE good, trust me.
I have some good articles on my blog here: https://www.everythingit.us/?s=phishing
But I think this was one of the better articles: https://www.everythingit.us/phishing-sites-that-look-real-stay-away/ It kind of clues you in to how "real" a website can look if you aren't always on the alert. 🙂
Anyway, bottom line, it happens. Not often, but it does. (I usually get scammed at least once a year...roughly) ...some box that was checked by default and I missed it, some link I shouldn't have clicked and I know I knew better...something. Best thing is to not beat yourself up over it, examine your security, and move on with your day and don't give these guys too much of your sleep. 🙂

It looks like he's a video kid...young, has a free WIX site, and the rest of his stuff is all on social media...so no telling really. Doesn't look like he even sells anything
If you "really" want to try to figure it out, contact me on my website, and I'll see if I can help you. Otherwise, try what I already mentioned.
