Smilebox Misrepresentation

I signed up for a monthly subscription for Smilebox ($11.67) but was charged an annual fee ($139.99). I raised the payment as a disputed transaction and PayPal reclassified the case as "Charged for a canceled subscription" which was not accurate. I was then asked by PayPal to provide a copy of the billing agreement and proof of cancellation which were never provided by Smilebox. Because I was unable to provide the documentation which I never received, the case was denied. I have since filed for an appeal which I am still crossing my fingers for the outcome. 

 

I note that there have been a few similar cases in the PayPal community but the resolutions seem to only point to the cancellation of the recurring payments going forward. How can I seek buyer protection and get the refund for this misrepresented transaction?
