Hi.

I recently bought an item off Facebook marketplace and used Paypal to purchase the item. This was a scam though however as the seller has vanished and taken my money along with them. They asked me to pay into a paypal.me money pool. I have opened a dispute on this payment but paypal have rejected this as the payment wasn't unauthorized. I'm desperately in need of advice please as this wasn't a small amount of money. thank you for giving this a read.

If you sent to a money pool then you paid a 'gift' payment and negated any buyer protection you would have had unfortunately.

The only dispute you could open would be for an unauthorised transaction but that is telling paypal that your account was hacked and used without your consent to send the money, as this was not true it would be closed.

You could try contacting your card issuer if you funded your paypal payment that way but as it again was not a goods/services payment they may well decline.
