Return shipping refund if sent from the post office

I had to return a fraudulent item to China. I purchased the item through PayPal, but when I returned it, I had to being it to the post office in order to ship it (I tried through the post office website, but it was not working correctly and I wanted to be sure it had the customs form filled out correctly). I had to pay with a CC at the post office since they obviously dont take paypal. Is there any way to get the money refunded? I do have return shipping on us, but I am not sure I can get it now. The item in question was a complete fraud and I am livid that Paypal is even dealing with this company in the first place. The whole transaction has been a joke.
