Refund enquiry

Hi i was seeking some advice, recently i purchased something via Facebook and paid good and services thankfully. The Cost of the items was 200 pounds however i brought two items one that was supposed to be 150 and the other 90 but managed to get them both for 200.  It arrived today and the 150 pound item i Dont really have any problems with however the 90 pound one has come not as described its more damaged than what i saw in the pictures i was shown, the seller probably used good camera angles, there was no way it was damaged via the postal service.

Im unsure if i want to ask for a refund as Im not to sure how the Seperation of pricing would work between the two items, did i pay 150 for the first one and 40 for the other? this was never established? do i assume i got a 20 pound discount on both items for a combined of 40?

i would much prefer a discount for the item say between 10/20% as even with the new damage that Wasent displayed its still worth 50-70  pounds.

However im not to sure if that is even possible as that may be down to the discretion of the seller to offer a discount as im not to sure what my paypal buyer rights entitle me too, is it just a refund on the item that Im unhappy with?

Thank you in advance, i will try to respond with any additional information as soon as possible

This is how this sort of dispute works.....

If you file a dispute for 'item received but not as described' then during the 'dispute' stage you can negotiate with the seller and see if they will replace or part refund you.

If you can't come to an agreement and you escalate the dispute to a claim then the 'only' thing that Paypal offers you 'if' they find in your favour is a full refund on return of 'everything' that you received, they don't deal in part refunds or part returns.

Even then you would have to return the items trackable to prove delivery of the item back to the seller BUT hopefully you have activated the below link at some time before you made the transaction so you can claim some of those costs back again.

How do I open a dispute with a seller when a purchase goes wrong?

You can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre of your PayPal account within 180 days of payment if:
•You don’t receive the item
•You receive an item but it’s significantly different than the description on eBay or on the seller’s website

By opening a dispute, you can communicate directly with your seller to work out a problem transaction.

If you reach an agreement with the seller you can close the dispute. If you're still not happy with the result, you can escalate the dispute into a claim. We'll review the claim and decide on reimbursement.

These steps apply to Personal accounts. If you have a Business account, please log in to see the steps that apply to you.

To open a dispute:
1.Log in to your PayPal account.
2.Near the bottom of the page, under 'More about your account', click Resolve a problem in our Resolution Centre.
3.Click Dispute a Transaction.
4.Select the button beside the transaction you want to dispute, then click Continue.
5.Select ‘Item dispute’, click Continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note:
•Generally buyers must wait at least 7 days from the date of payment to escalate a dispute for an item not received
•Where an item has not been received, please ensure you have given the seller enough time before opening a dispute

DO NOT CLOSE THE DISPUTE UNTIL YOU HAVE A CLEARED REFUND OR YOUR ITEM WHATEVER THE SELLER SAYS. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO ESCALATE THE DISPUTE TO A CLAIM WITHIN 20 DAYS IF THE SELLER DOES NOT REFUND.

If that does not work then if you funded your paypal payment via a card then contact your card issuer and see if they will do a chargeback for you.
