Paypal representatives are unreachable by phone

Hello all,

I am currently frustrated out of my mind trying to reach a Paypal customer service representative over the phone. I have tried for the past two hours to reach a paypal representative through their phone service to dispute a transaction my wife made using my paypal. She attempted to purchase a Power Wheels toy but accidentally ended up on a scam website called powerwheelstoys.com, which has since disappeared without a trace. The seller has no contact info listed and cannot be contacted anymore. Unfortunately, my wife panicked and already attempted to file a claim, but as "Unauthorized access" instead of "Item never received", so the Resolution Center will not allow me to fix this error, nor open a new claim.

I can't seem to reach a real representative through the phone to explain the situation and get the charge reversed. Does anybody have a recommendation for my next course of action.

Same here. And I fell for it twice because the site said first payment didn’t go through. Was rushing for Christmas and man, I can’t believe it. Please PayPal do help us out. The site was using your service as a false sense of security.

I also initially filed a claim as unauthorized, after realizing the website was fraudulent. My claim was quickly closed as not unauthorized. I messaged Paypal through the message center and they did reopen and moved the claim to the did not receive queue. I would start there. I also asked them to cancel the order as I have no way of contacting the seller and they may. Not sure where that request stands...

A dispute for an unauthorised transaction is telling paypal that your account was hacked and used without your consent to make that transaction.
Paypal would check IP addresses and devices and close the dispute if it was you that made the transaction.

You are only allowed 1 dispute per transaction so the only way you can get a second dispute opened is to contact Paypal (when and if you can) and see if they will open a second dispute for you.
They may decline citing policies but if you say you made a mistake then they might open a second dispute for you.

If not then if you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then consider contacting your card issuer and see if they will help you with a chargeback?

Contact options for Paypal are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages...

1. Paypal phones are slowly re-opening and increasing in numbers (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out.
Or
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Same!! I filed on the claim on the 6th. Currently hoping tomorrow they refund my money since that’s when the seller has to respond and we all know that isn’t going to actually happen. 🙄

Hello again all!

An update. Since paypal was so horribly unavailable, I went through my financial institution, which promptly placed a stop order on the transaction and refunded me my $99.00. Since then they have made all the details of the seller available to me, which I used to file a complaint with the FTC. Hope those jerks got arrested.

Resolved.

Same here threw power wheelstoys.com and paypal refused my claim. Will not let me reopen. I used PayPal so if it was a scam I would get my money back. Nope paypal refused to reopen my claim. So looks like I will not be using PayPal any more. No one answers calls or helps.

I actually filed my claim as Item Not Received and they still denied my claim because the seller provided shipping information. I haven't received anything, and I know I won't. But I have to ask, did anyone who ordered receive a weird little keychain with Chinese on it? From a China address?
